Shannon M. Sutherland (she/her) is a writer and director based in New York City. Her stories often feature Black female protagonists in the horror and fantasy genres, exploring themes of Black girlhood through metaphysical lenses.
Her latest short film, They Flew Like Blackbirds, was among the five winners of the 4th Annual Focus Features & JetBlue Student Short Film Showcase.
She is currently developing a trilogy of short films that will address trauma, dysfunctional family dynamics, and hope in Black girlhood.
